Fire in room four

This morning in literacy we set the class on fire, well kind of we did a science experiment which involved air, tea bags and you guessed it fire. In order to do this crazy experiment you will need a lighter and a tea bag. First you need to simply take out all the stuff that is inside the sache so that it is the shape of a cylinder, then burn it with a lighter highly recommended that you are with an adult if you are under age, because things can get quite messy. Then burn it this will send the tea bag flying into the air this is possible because of all the energy that is in the tea bag. When it is on fire when the bag starts too cool the energy will decrease and the bag will go back down again

LETS BAN FORTNITE ?

Fortnite destroying records left right and center, the game that everyone just can't get enough of.when something is this popular of course everyone's first opinion is to banned it, I mean this has been the case for years now look at all the popular trends from the last 5 years, first it was pokemon go then fidget spinners now fortnite! No these ranting hooligans need to get there nasty hands off our beautiful harmless game.

PESTS!

Pests.are destructive insects or animals that attack crops animals livestock etc.Some pest like hedgehogs and possums look friendly, but don't let there cute appearance distract you from there nasty habits.when people start campaigns saying that we should keep these vicious creatures that serve as a huge threat not only to our native animals, but to our plants and tress, they are being careless lowlifes! these deadly creatures are killing milions of native animals every year. taking out plants and tress and spreading deadly diseases and viruses.if we don"t react quickly they are going to take over and when that happens we are going to have no choice but to wipe them all out leaving not a single trace.

2048

One of the biggest issues this generation is facing is global warming, and as time progresses things are only getting worst. Just imagine what would New Zealand be like in the year 2048, 29 years into the future.

Sea levels rising. Overtime the earth gets hotter and hotter which makes the ice in Antarctica start to melt. When the ice melts the sea levels rise, which leads to small parts of land getting completely wipe out by the ocean. not only is this the formula for disaster but it courses people to move into more tighter spaces.

Environmental destruction. Perhaps the most devastating issue of all. The reason this is so concerning is because we are the reason lots of it is happening, we pollute the air and the oceans, we destroys the trees if a new tree grew in its place this won't be a problem. The extinction of animals is also going up at an alarming rate, and by 2048 you best believe things are going to be a lot worst.

Positives.to help you find relief let's continue with some positives.Think back 100 years ago electricity had just been invented, movies had no sound and carrier pigeons were still being used, we have come a long way from 1918. In 2048 technology would have improved loads,i'm not guaranteeing anything but by then we probably would have found cures for lots of sickness that might be deadly for us today. Side note by the year 2050 artificial intelligence would be better than intelligence, yes you heard me correctly there are going to be robots that are even smarter than humans, that sounds a bit sketchy to me I mean we all played Detroit become human.

Slavery

Slavery.
A slave is someone who has been denied of all human rights, and is property of their master. Meaning they can get hit and and abused in every way possible.But when we look at slavery we look at it as an old thing that happened years and years ago, but many will be surprised to hear that slavery still exist today. in fact this year in 2018 slaves are getting sold for less than 500 dollars!. yes for less than a price of an iPhone you can buy a person.

How slaves were treated.
sometimes we look at slaves as personal servants but it is very important that we address that the slaves were treated horribly.from how they were talked to the places, they slept they were abused and killed even when they did what they were told.

A question that regularly pops up when asked about slavery, is why would people start it in the first place. Well back in the day slavery was seen as a regular thing it was very normal just like how we all own phones, they all owned slaves.

In ancient Rome they had educated slaves though they were still forced to do things with no pay. Rome was a very strong country and there slaves were treated with respect and their children could get an education when

Freeing slaves.as we mentioned earlier slavery still exist today.Some people buy slaves just so they can free them. As good of an idea this may seem it is very risky, because in order to buy a slave you need to get in contact with very sketchy people. and if you get caught doing a black market trade you will have to face severe consequences.

Year 8 camp reveiw

Three weeks ago was our year 8 leadership camp we paid $120! For two nights. Today I will inform you about my experience at camp and if it's worth every penny.

Activities. In my opinion the two best activities were go karts and the team building activity with Mr J. Reason being is because of the fast paced games and the feature of playing with others, and if you weren't playing with other people you were cheering them on as they quickly zoom past the flying fox or do laps on the go karts. Other fan favorites like paintballing and air rifles,were just not fun due to the very slow paced. The air rifles featured a huge gap between firing and waiting. Paintballing also had a huge gap between playing and waiting and the sling shots were not very accurate overall I rate the activities 3.5 out of 10

Meals. The two best meals were lunch and dinner.dessert and breakfast were very disappointing. Dessert was just not enough.and apart from porridge breakfast was pretty bad, and because everyone wanted porridge the odds of getting seconds were quite slim. I rate the meals a 7.4 out of 10

Cabins. The size of the cabins were decent.The rule was no shoes in the cabin which everyone ignored. They allowed little to no noise in the cabin. our cabin was the opposite as people tried doing accents and telling scary stories with red lights shining on there face, in the middle of the night That did not go well.The cabin was given several severe warnings. And then our whole cabin had to go outside and start running on stones for around three minutes. The cabin ran several times after that. The next morning. The other cabins told us that they had to run as well I rate the cabins a 8.0 out of 10 .

Overall I rate this camp a 7 out of 10 but there is lots for room improvement

Newtons three laws of motion

This week in class we have been learning about newton's three laws of motion and how it can impact our everyday lives. We did two experiments to experience some of the laws in full action!

Our first experiment required one cup and a thin piece of cardboard and a coin. We Placed the cardboard on top of the cup and the coin on top of that you quickly pull the cardboard towards you then the coin will stay in place and eventually drop into the cup. This happens because Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.

Our second experiment involved a balloon, straw, thin string, and a piece of sticky tape. You had to blow up the balloon, then put your string into the straw then tape it to the ballon get someone to hold the other end of the string and then let go of the ballon. This will send the balloon zooming across the string until there is no air left in the balloon this happens because for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction the air flying out of the ballon gives another reaction making the balloon fly in the opposite direction

Fortnite is taking over the world by storm! no pun intended, Breaking hundreds of twitch and videogame records with some players earning well over 500 thousand dollars a month. Today I am going to be going through epic games secrete formula and why fortnite. is one of the most popular games in morden video game history.


Its free! One of the main reasons fortnite is so successful is because of its easy accessibility. It's available on xbox playstation ios android windows and mac all at no cost at all. Mobile gamers can game with console players and pc players all for free, all you need Is an internet connection and you are good to go. This is awesome especially that video games these days will cost you a fortune fortnite offers the full 5 star gamer experience for free.

Bugs and issues. Although the game is free, it features lots of in game purchases such as battel pasees skins and v bucks which may be discouraging for some players. And because the game gets updated regularly survers are often down. Epic games usually apologise for the extended down time by giving players free skins and back blings.

Why so successful. Fortnite is very popular because of its combination of building and shooting its fast paced game bright colors and its option to play with others. You can team up with a buddy in dous or play with 4 friends in squads or. Play the 100 player hunger games type mode which is solo. you can also get your groove on! as The game features dancing giving players an option to bust some moves featuring some new popular dance and some classic ones You can dance to taunt or troll other players or just have some good fun in celebrating you victory royale

fortnite is such a great game soon your grandma will be playing. Just remember to do your homework first before jumping in to that fun storm fight adventure.

Fia Fia Rehearsal

Today our school is putting on a fia fia performance and every student is taking part. Yesterday was our rehearsal. When it was time to rehearse everyone went to there practice rooms.we were then told by Mrs nua to go to our changing rooms from there we moved to the hall.Unfortunately the weather was not great so we could not watch each other's performance live. We went group by group to the stage and practiced performing on the stage so we can get it perfect on the night. While the last two groups were performing the sun came out so we all went together to the stage area to watch the last two performances live. the rehearsal went awesome and I am very excited to perform tonight.

Why you should buy moro bars

Today we were split into four groups and we had to create a poster pitching to the class why they should buy moro instead of another chocolate.We quickly found out that moro has the most sugar so we had to ignore that fact and focus on how much energy is in the bar because of the sugar. But not actually mention that there is lots of sugar in the bar. But we were aloud to add and exaggerate facts.

Our first point was that a moro bar is both caramel and chocolate making it more favourable and tasty. We also exaggerated the energy and said that the energy of one moro is equivalent to 5 kit kats and 6 picnics.We also mentioned that all blacks eat 15 moros a day to get that superb energy although this is not true at added a sense of banter to to our sales pitch.

Should we wear uniform?

Today I am going to be answering the question should we wear uniform.The answer is yes we should wear uniform.because it takes away the pressure of having to decide what clothes you should wear every morning.and wearing uniform looks tidy.not wearing uniform would be messy. Our uniform also shows pride and represents our school and when you see it you can easily identify the school.

should all schools separate boys and girls

Today in class we had to write a short explanation about boys being separated or together here is my explanation.

In most schools boys and girls are not separated and are together but some schools are boys only or girls only.I think most if not all schools should be together because girls can learn from boys and the other way around. and everyone can be united.

Important Visitor

Today we had Tony from Attitude come in and talk to us about the importance of making good
choices, and sticking to your passion also not being discouraged if you don't succeed.

An example Tony gave was his experience in intermediate, he did an audition to join his school choir though the tutor told him that he sounds horrible suggesting that he should stick to
playing sport, but he did not let those rude comments stop him. So he went home and started
singing loudly and confidently, his mum then told him to “shut up!!” this made him feel very discouraged.

Many years later after graduating from two different colleges with 2 degrees in music, he auditioned
to sing at a christmas in the park event near his home time, they were three judges in front of him
one being his intermediate choir tutore, after performing the tutore was shocked she said “wow!!
that was a big improvement” he replied with “I hope you still don't talk to kids that like that cause what
you said hurt me”. Although what his tutor said to him was really mean and discourage Tony said that
he thanks her cause those terrible actions of his teacher made him who he is today.

Tony also has a great sense of humor as he made jokes throughout the whole speech even when
things were serious, wich was great and made the speech more enjoyable. He also talked to us about
different personalities and that each personality is represented by a animal. Tony taught us the
strengths and weaknesses of all the the personalities.The lion (the leader), the otter (entertainer),
the golden retriever(peacemaker) and the beaver( facilitator). I personally think that I am between
beaver and golden retriever. Overall this speech was amazing, Tony taught us the importance of not
giving up I also learnt what facilitator means(always willing to do things the right way/work and do
things properly.

Should we stop using plastic bags

There have been many debate over plastic bags whether we should keep them or stop using them for the sake saving our environment. Grocery stores like countdown are planning to completely stop using plastic bags by the end of this year, and there are going to be encouraging customers to bring their own bag while shopping. I disagree with this because if you shop with your own bag for example a school bag it will look like you are shoplifting

 

However plastic bags harm our environment because they end up in our creeks and it can lead to pollution and death of our sea animals but overall I think we should keep plastic bags but enforce strict laws on littering.
